RicClark77
I just bought a CPO 2011 Camry XLE. It get's great mileage, bought it on 9/26 2014 and it just got to a quarter tank on 10/13/ 2014. I took it to the gas station and popped opened the gas door, removed the gas cap, and I noticed something that wasn't there-no spring loaded steel lever door that the gas nozzel pushes open. I've owned Chevys, Fords, and VWs models from 1988-2006 and they all had those levered doors. Is this the standard on this model, or is that door missing or jammed open? greggolden
My car is a 2011 Camry SE and I don't think it has the little steel door either. I am aware that these cars use a slightly pressurized tank, with the pressure contained by the gas cap. If there is a leak, or if the gas cap is off, the car will not start. Safety feature, you know. So, that little steel door is probably not important any longer.
