Leighcm Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 A 2001 Celica could possibly be still under powertrain warranty, depending on exactly when your in-service date was. Most likely, a check engine light is for a powertrain issue, so definitely take it to a Toyota dealer first. One thought: the most common cause of a check engine light in newer-model Toyota products is because people don't completely close the gas cap. Did the light come on shortly after getting fuel?
