rattletrap96
That's my question. Theoretically, of course. Let's say the catalytic converter had been removed, but the muffler assembly repaired and all else is go. Will the vehicle continue to operate, what sort of problems might be encountered, and what sort of damage might result to engine, exhaust, etc.
humanoid
You'd probably get a CEL because the O2 sensors would be getting bad readings. Also, you'd be harming the environment because a catalytic converter provides an environment for a chemical reaction wherein toxic combustion by-products are converted to less-toxic substances. Can't think of anything else at the moment.
Leighcm
It will absolutely run just fine without a catalytic converter...you may even get better fuel economy. The downside is that you will NOT pass a smog check, you'll smell more emissions, and you'll probably get a check engine light.
drfabtce
Hello, is there a way to make the O2 sensor read good, i mean make the CE light not come on and remove the catalityc?
humanoid
urdusa.com makes an O2 sim. for Tacos, not sure if they work on other models.
angie004
Yes there will be no problem. Have a 1994 camry v6. Actually runs better. Check engine light has been on for 6 years.
