Seized parking brake

Recommended Posts

Hopefully someone can help or give me an idea how to resolve my issue . I have had my 2004 Echo sitting for 1.5 years, and just got it started up , released the parking brake , put it in drive , and it will not budge . So I am assuming the parking brake is seized . Any suggestions on how to fix this ? Ideally, I don’t want to spend any money , or spend as less as I can , because I am selling the vehicle . Thanks in advance

Hi,

You could try putting the car in reverse and this has the effect of 'unwinding' the brakes if they have seized on.
You will need to ensure that there is plenty of room behind if the car suddenly lurches back and also to make sure the handbrake is off when attempting this
