skydiver1978
I become an owner of brand new Avalon '08 LTD just one month ago and I like the car from day one. Two days ago, in the morning, ready to go to work, started my car and got low oil pressure light on. As manual says 'CHECK', I checked oil level - was OK, but decided to go to the dealer to check what is wrong. There are 6 miles from my home to the dealership where I got my car and on the middle of the way engine start acting crazy, got noise under the hood - I slow down and stop and engine died and all lights comes on. Restarted engine OK, but still noise, and turned to the next street and shot off the engine. Looked under the hood and found engine oil all over. Check the oil level and there was nothing in the engine - but on the ground between my first and last stop, that about 20-30 yards in distance. Call to dealership and order tow car. Service manager at the dealership, when I get there, loan me a car and promise to call me at work. One hour later I was able to talk to him again and been told that they planning to pull engine out because Toyota rep is coming to investigate on Monday what was happend to that engine with only 560 miles?????? Anyone heard about such problem with Toyota's engine? Will update Monday
Leighcm
Wow...scary stuff, there. I haven't heard of any problems like that. Let us know what the Toyota rep says.
skydiver1978
My Avalon with bad engine was in the dealership shop for two weeks, waiting of arriving of a new engine. I was driving 4 cyl. Camry then and would say I like that car a lot too. Now I have my Avalon back from repair shop for more then two weeks now, with new engine and I put another 500 miles on car. And it runs like new anyway. Guys at the dealership were helpful. What was nice, that Toyota will provide me with extended warranty for free: Platinum 6 years, 75,000 with $0 deductible - very nice of them. Thank you Toyota! I know that Toyota stand behind their products and I hope that nothing will happened again to this car for a long time. And at the end - I am a happy Avalon owner now. Leighcm
Glad to hear that was resolved so quickly. Toyota will usually step up, especially in situations like that. What was the problem?
