takumi
Hi there ... After much discussion with various tuners here in South Africa the major problem encountered on our 2ZZ-GE's is the fact that fuelling is out considerably !!! They all basically gurantee at 7kW at the wheels increase with some claiming increases of up to 18 % over stock in some instances !! We basically have three options available other than going stand alone - 1. Dastek Unichip 2. Perfect Power SMT-6 3. RAM Mapping Each person says that their system is the best and works on the 2ZZ-GE, but when i ask for references and dyno's to back up claims it all goes quiet. So basically i love my car and don't want to do the wrong thing. Guys could you please help me with advice - I would appreciate before and after dyno's to. What are the trends in Japan in this regard - From what i have seen they favour the Apexi Power AFC II, TRUST E-Manange, but i can't seem to find any concrete on our cars specific. Also what octane fuel do you guys use ? Have any of you tried Octane Boosters ? Do They work ?? You can even e-mail me directly tparker@oldmutual.com Any help will be greatly appreciated
fidgits
in the UK, the octaines are 95 or 98 RON, I know the US have a slightly different measurement system. The problem with Japanese imports is that japan have a 100RON fuel for their high performance engines. Now some Octaine boosters do work, not as well as claimed, but it may help your problem, but it will be an expensive fix!
fidgits
Now, the Greddy emanage etc, are used to control the fuelling, however, these are used for highly modified engines, when you require a fine degree of control over the engine to make the most of substantial modifications. In the case of a car suffering from underfuelling problems, a simple re-map of the existing ECU should work, and failing that, a Dastek Unichip should be a cheap Piggy-Back solution - even if still overkill.. Gardner Neely
Guys: Neophyte Matrix owner here, with a 1ZZ- FE engine 1.8 Liter. My gas consumption is not great, with maybe 21 to 24 MPG US in city driving 35 MPH, and up to perhaps 27 to 30 MPG on the freeway at 65 to 75 MPH. We have 87 Octane in the States, up to 93 , but I always pump 87 Octane, Low test f6r cheapest price/gal. Can you explain RAM Mapping, or give link? For fuel efficiency, is this? JDMRunx
Hi I have a 2003 Toyota corolla RUNX Z Aero Tourer (2zzge) and I am thinking of going with the greddy emanage ultimate. Has anyone tuned with this unit or maybe the V manage? What gains can I expect to get out of using this on a N/A application? Thanks
B-R-T
HiI have a 2003 Toyota corolla RUNX Z Aero Tourer (2zzge) and I am thinking of going with the greddy emanage ultimate. Has anyone tuned with this unit or maybe the V manage? What gains can I expect to get out of using this on a N/A application? Thanks First get a good air fuel ratio meter (like Innovatine LC-1 with a wideband sensor and a gauge - ~$300). I wouldn't recommend Ultimate or V-Manage for a stock N/A car. e-Manage blue will do the trick. It will increase power, but don't expect any miracles. Target AFR should be 12.5 - 13.1 for maximum power, but it will hit the fuel economy a bit. If you are putting an e-manage (or V-manage) for power, I would suggest to make some minor "addons". Like cold air intake, high flow air filter, better flowing exhaust manifold and the whole catback exhaust system. One thing to consider when tuning.. ritch mixtures will upset your ECU. You can get an add-on for e-manage to turn off the O2 signal when RPM is over the setpoint, but this will cause a Check engine light to come on. There's nothing to worry about fuel mixture, cuz you will see actual fuel mixture inside your car (if you have wideband AFR gauge installed). You can't go too lean if you are only adjusting injector duty cycle additions and not the MAF/MAP voltage adjustments. But ignition should be tuned for richer mixture too. Let me add Camcon from Power Enterprises to your emanage ultimate. http://www.powerenterpriseusa.net/products...mcon/camcon.htm Some time tuning these 2 gadgets and you have a very nicely powered 2zz.
