  1. Hello everyone, ive been trying to replace my driver side outputshaft seal on my 2001 avalon a541e and cannot get the new one in from in the car. If i could remove the retainer housing it would be much easier to press it in. The problem is im afraid to take the housing off because im not sure what else will come off and i cannot afford to mess the transmission. If anyone has done this before and can let me know if its ok to take off and easy enough to put back in that would be much appreciated! thanks you
  2. I have been advised at my Toyota dealership where I do maintenance, to have a transmission fluid exchange done. The manual doesn’t mention this as recommended on the Toyota website. Confusing. Independent reviews suggests that with the pressurized system they use to do this draining of fluid can actually dislodge particles distributing them elsewhere other than in the draining fluid, that later are found to have “ gummed up the workings. Anyone have insight on this issue? Thanks in advance! Carol P
  3. 2014 Sienna XLE AWD transmission failure at 82,822 miles. Heard clunking sound that varied with speed. Changed front CV joints to no avail. Brought to dealer who informed me I'd have to replace entire transmission. Brought to local transmission shop who pulled the pan and sure enough, bearings and metal in the pan. Disappointing to have bought brand new car expecting to last 10 to 15 years min. Now 5 year old car completely done for the time being. $4562 + 1678 Labor to get on road again. Totoya customer care has no care for issue and premature failure. Just state it's our problem. Anyone else have issues with this model? I regret buying a new Toyota and definitely won't again. Used and another brand is in my future. I should have leased something, I'd be better off financially at this point.
  4. Ok...Not really sure how to begin here, but I have a 2008 Rave 4 and as of recently when ever I switch to D all available options appear with a square around the gear, when I'm driving the R for reverse appears black, N for neutral also appears. Now, there's no physical problem nor does it affect the driving conditions of the vehicle. Please see the image in case what I'm explaining does not make a whole lot of sense. Has anyone encountered this before?IMG_2540 2.HEIC Thanks for the help gang.
  5. I have Toyota Matrix 2004 XRS 6 speed manual transmission. when I left my foot off the clutch I hear a hard click and the engine moves. Inside the car, the shifter moves back without poping out of gear or anything. this only happened on first gear. I replaced the mounts, and I installed shifter cable bushings. but they didn't help. The guy that I bought the car from, said he replaced the clutch. the car is parked now and I don't know what to do. The mechanic recommended changing the mounts, but they didn't help. any clues or what to do to properly troubleshoot this issue? side note: I bought the mounts off eBay, my mechanic says they are cheap mount but he doesn't think it's a mount problem. greatly appreciate your help here!!
  6. I have 2015 Camry Hybrid that develops a shake at low throttle on flat road at 38-43 mph. The Toyota field tech was able to duplicate this condition on two brand new vehicles of of the dealer lot. Toyota is saying this is a "characteristic of the car". Has anyone else noticed/reported this with their car?
  7. So I've had this awesome 81' tercel SR5 lift back for almost a year now, but it really needs a transmission rebuild. I've been dealing with grinding first and second gear from the beginning, but now it's starting to be unbearable. Anyway if anyone knows of a place where I can get mechanical, suspension and transmission parts easily let me know pleaseee
