  1. Greetings everyone! I would appreciate some help please. I inherited a 99 Camry LE (Japan made) with 39k miles and cruise control. An aftermarket horn button was installed on the dashboard wired directly to the horn relay and grounded on the bottom of the dash. That button sounds the horn, so I assume things are ok from the horn relay to the horns (horn relay, 10a fuse, wiring and horns). I installed a new/used clockspring (I checked the clockspring continuity of each pin in the clockspring, and get continuity on all 4 pins). I pressed the factory horn button/airbag and nothing. All the clips were installed properly with an audible click. I don't see any wire breaks or splices. I don't know wiring well or how to read schematics. I checked the inside of the steering wheel where the airbag sits, and checked continuity from the pressure plate that appears to ground when you press the horn button/airbag. When the metal plates make contact, it shows continuity. But then I noticed a connector on the left side of the steering wheel, near the airbag retaining screw. I don't recall disconnecting that plug and I'm lost. I don't know if it's missing a plug, or if it's for an accessory my car doesn't have. I attached a pic below. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! horn schematic.docx
  2. I made it home and turned off the engine but had the radio playing as I finished reading mail. After a few minutes, the radio got staticky then faded out completely. I turned the ignition off completely then attempted to start the car and it would not start. I tried several times to start the car. Twice it clicked and one time it did nothing. After about an hour I tried again and it turned over real slow but did not start. The next morning it turned over slowly but did start so I took it to the dealership. After a 3 hour wait, I was as told the battery tested good and the starter passed the test. The car has started continuously since the first episode. But I’d like to know the cause so I can get it corrected before I end up stranded somewhere. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what is going on?
  3. I have a 16 Camry xse and wanting to lower it just a little bit. Wondering if anyone here has done a leveling kit and what brand they used. Also wouldn’t mind upgrading the rims to 18’s or 19’s and not sure if I would have any figment problems.
  4. Hi all. I just took possession of a beautiful '07 Camry XLE 4 cylinder. It came with what I'm sure at the time it was built was considered state of the art technology: An integrated AM/FM/CD changer/Bluetooth phone/Navigation system. JBL. Sounds great, frankly. But my owner's manual references a different unit entirely. Keeps referring to an "Audio Control Knob" and there's no such animal on my radio. Illustrations don't match up either. I found a separate manual online but to my disappointment it too referenced a different unit. Despite its lack of intuitive design I've managed to figure out how to program the steering wheel controls so that I can turn the unit off and on, control volume, and move from one station to the next (but not to my presets, unfortunately) and also from one track to the next on a CD or when I'm using Bluetooth to stream from my iPhone. My problem is with the phone. I can pair my phone (iPhone 7 originally and now an iPhone 8) to the Bluetooth just fine, and although the link occasionally drops out, I can do "Hey Siri" and place an outgoing call. The person I call hears me through the roof mounted mic, and I hear them through the car's audio system loud and clear. But when I receive an incoming call things get weird. Instead of hearing my phone's ringtone, the car's audio system produces a loud ring like an old fashioned telephone. And no matter how I answer it.....whether by tapping on my phone's screen, tapping on the audio system's screen, or using the steering wheel controls, the connection to the caller is made, but I only hear them through my phone and not the car's audio system. And yes, I make sure to check the iPhone's screen to be sure the call is being routed through the car's bluetooth and not the phone. Basically I'm looking for a way to bypass the car's out-of-date integrated phone system and just use my iPhone 8. Here's a pic of the unit in question: If anybody can help me I'd be truly grateful. I hate the thought of having to spend hundreds of dollars for a new double din unit and installation simply to gain that one capability, but being able to make and receive phone calls hands free is of utmost importance to my job and my personal life.
  5. California car, clean inside and out, and under the hood. Seller says needs 'hydraulic pump' (?) (power steering) replaced, and is taking 300 off price. 178000 miles, no major problems in the eight years she has had it. Says everything works. Are Camrys prone to major problems or repairs? Will I need to replace timing belt, head gasket, ... soon or in a year or 2? any response will help me to negotiate price and will be much appreciated... regards ddnorm
  6. 2015 Camry XSE V6 with 12,000kms. The original owner, I have heard this sound for the last 4,000 kms or so. I have some pretty definite noises (groans) coming from the front end most pronounced when backing slowly and cranking the wheel right or left. Persons outside the car can hear it as well. 1st trip to the dealer, they heard it but could not identify it. The 2nd trip they figured it was the front struts. They were ordered (warranty) and eventually replaced but the noise continues. The noise is getting more pronounced. The dealer service shop couldn`t duplicate on other Camry models until they tried a 2016 XSE V6 with only 10 kms. It already made a similar sound. My service report says` sounds the same as a similar model`. I didn`t accept that and spoke with the service manager. They say they have contacted Toyota Canada to see if there are similar complaints but it does appear to be something relating to differences with the XSE front suspension.
  7. here is my new car, enjoy the pics!
  8. 2016 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID REVIEW: THE LONG-AWAITED AND MOST LOVED SEDAN! The powertrain of the 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid is gonna be built around a 4-cyl, 2.5-lit gasoline engine, capable of up to 178 HP; plus, there will be an electric motor, and a battery pack. Now, with the combined might of gas and electric, the 2016 Hybrid Camry is capable to achieve even more Horsepower – around 200. That allows it to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 7.6 seconds. Furthermore, the fuel-efficiency is also great. Article
  9. Hey Guys, A while ago, I was trying to close my sunroof on my 02 Avalon and it would only go between halfway or until right before should close. Once it got to that position, it would reverse directions and open again. I had to push it for the end part to close it. I checked the tracks and there wasn't anything visibly obstructing the path. It could probably use a little grease but still... Any suggestions?

  11. I have a 93 Camry LE 2.2 AT with 415k on the original engine and trans-axle. Neither has been rebuilt or seriously repaired aside from normal gasket replacements. Hard to believe? Yes. And i wouldn't have believed it either but I have lived it. I just keep doing the maintenance and it keeps going. Anybody else in the "High Mileage club?" Here's a pic of the odo at 400k
  12. I recently purchased a 2014.5 Camry XLE. I am having issues with the iPod Classic playing in the audio system. I connected the iPod Classic to the USB in the dash and it played one song before I shut the car off. When I started the car, the iPod was frozen and would not work. I t would not charge, even at home in the wall outlet. I connected to iTunes and was able to restart the iPod and reload all the music. Yesterday I put the iPod back in the Camry and it worked for a while. I shut off and started the car numerous times with no problems. on the 17th song I started the car and it froze up again. When this happens, on the main menu, it does not show and iPod being connected. Is this a known problem, and if so, what is my fix? Thanks. Harley1098
  13. Hi, I'm a newbie with cars and am considering buying my first car - a 1984 Toyota Camry. I know the owner and can trust him with the maintenance. I'm a student and he's selling it for a price under my budget (1900$), plus it's got only 83,000 miles on it. So the deal kinda looks good to me. However, thought I'd confirm and get some tips from the experts (especially those of you who're actually using a 1980s car as a daily ride). I only intend to take it to and from work (which is a ten min. ride from home). Any suggestions on whether to go ahead with it? What problems am I supposed to expect with such an old car (I don't want to end up spending more on it for repairs than what I bought it for!)? Is it worth 1900$ or should I try to get the price down further? Thanks!

  17. I have a New in the Box, Bosal Catalytic Converter PN 099-5701 fits a 97-2001 Camry, a 99-2001 Solara, and possibly others, (check PN), with the 2.2L L4 Gas DOHC SFI Electronic FI MFI engine. The list price is something around $549.00, and I'm selling it for only $175, just to be rid of it, and that includes both mounting gaskets (new). This is 100% new in the box. I inadvertently ordered the wrong PN, and got stuck with it. My Loss is your gain! I'd prefer local pickup in the Philadelphia area, but I will consider shipping at buyers expense.
