This actually didn't come in to my mind until the other day I drove my older Honda Civic and curiosity got to me. Was there ever a metal flap in the fuel filler neck in a 2005 Toyota Echo? There was one in my Civic and I can't remember if there ever was one in my Echo. I get a little paranoid with the thought that the metal flap just dropped into the tank.
