  1. Hello, I am wondering if the NGK V-power spark plugs I bought some time ago would be good to install into my 83' SR5? I have been told by some that the coppertop generic brand (Motomaster) flat electrode is fine, and not to waste the money, and others who say that the V-powers give a little more power/fuel efficiency due to a more complete burn? I am not sure what plugs are in my car right now, as I recently bought it and have not had time to do a tune up. I do know that when I take my foot off the gas in any gear, I get loud back-fire like pops coming from my exhaust pipe. This does not happen during acceleration or adjustment of the throttle, only when removing my foot from the pedal completely. What could be causing this? A buddy told me that it's fouled plugs, but I don't believe hear-say until backed by other opinions or evidence. Thoughts? Cheers, Drachenblut
  2. Hello! I am the proud owner of two 1980's 'Rollas! My winter driver: 1984 Corolla 5 door hatchback, FWD, blue interior/exterior My summer driver: 1983 Corolla SR5, 3 door fastback, RWD, silver/silver I am happy to finally have found a good site where I can talk shop about the amazing Corolla! Hope there are lots of classics owners/drivers like me here! My aim in joining is basically to see what I can do maintenance wise on my cars, as well as modifications for performance and reliability. I live in Alberta, Canada. My first project, outside of rust removal/repainting and body work, is to delete the emissions equipment (what I call engine gags). I would really like to learn how to do that myself, from removing the vacuum tubes/charcoal canisters, to what kinds of exhaust systems I can install to delete the cat etc. I am a recent university graduate and do not have alot of tools, but I am serious about getting these cars into great shape! Thanks, and see you around the forums! Sincerely, Drachenblut
