  1. I like fix-it stories like that.
  2. Have you cleaned the battery terminals?
  3. Senor, look at it this way: It's not expensive to change out the power steering fluid yourself. I think they are trying to get some labor hour charge$ out of you. You can do it yourself. And once you go synthetic, you'd probabvly never have to change it again.
  4. You know what? I may not be an expert on this, but if the mechanic suggested dirt in the converter heat shield, that's not crazy. I saw that happen once before in Tennessee, where the guy was driving the car through mud in the summer.
  5. Please do the board a favor: post what the repair results are.
  6. This is a great issue a lot of people encounter. And a great post. And I appreciate it, because us tall guys who bought 1994-2000 Corollas must be thinking, "what were we thinking?" 1. If you have that kind of seat modification done, which I think will involve serious welding and cutting and possibly subframe issues, whether or not it was done by someone who specializes in this type of work is irrelevant. 2. If you get pulled over by a cop, the problem is that your car modifications will be evaluated at a low constitutional law standard (rational relation test) because driving has been determined to be a privilege and not a right. 3. Beware of the opportunity to be a defendant in a civil case! If you hit some hapless bloke, regardless of the fact that they were cited or ticketed and you were not, if there is ANY question as to liability you will be sued, and the plaintiff will call whoever made the welding mods to your ride after they find out who he is after your responses to interrogetories they propound on you.
  7. Well, the car probably drives OK anyway, correct? Perhaps if it was registered in another jurisdiction where emissions was not a major concern....... ;)
  8. RTV probably won't seal the leak. You are going to have to clean the area very well, probably with engine cleaner, and try Permatex on it. Let it dry well before using it. It will take a whole afternoon to dry, too.
  9. NO. You should be able to pull it out with a butterknife bent at 30degrees or better yet a trim tool. I can email you the how-to page.
  10. I agree: but this is going to require a lot of TSB research, among other issues. Let's remane this topic.
  11. Can you see the philips head screw in the door handle bezel?
  12. Well, if you don't have any corrosion issues, you have a short, most likely.
  13. Has the Camry ever been in deep snow? Ever had water in the cabin: in the dash? You might have a corrosion issue as well.
  14. OK--tell me exactly what broke: the handle? What does the door panel underneath look like? Anything broken under there? quote name='rkelachim' date='Jan 7 2006, 03:20 PM' post='2172'] Hello all. Recently broke the interior passenger side door handle on my 02' Camry. Went to the dealer and purchased a new one and I've been examining the new one to try to figure out how to remove the old one. Looks like I may not have to pull the entire door panel off to replace the handle? Does anyone know for certain if this is the case? If I do have to remove the door panel, does anyone have any tips on doing so?
  15. Airbrushing is great. But the cost might be about $75 for a good job.

    Spark Plugs

Mine has Iridium plugs in it as well, but I plan on 90K changes anyway. DENSOs.
  17. Also, do you have a vacum gauge? Check to see if you have a leak in a hose somewhere. This really sounds like tune up matter to me as well. It's a 1994? And it's only got 72K on it?
  18. As for the steering wheel, if you take the top and bottom of the steering column cover off, you'll see a rubber bushing going around the column. There may be a lubrication issue with your 1999, as this is happening with 2002s, 2003s, 2004s.
  19. The statute of limitations to prosecute his case has long run out. But that's what the guy was doing.
  20. Your air filter has a small bolt in each corner. They need to be removed, with a 10MM wrench, I believe. Undo them and lift the cover up: the air filter comes right out. You might as well clean out the leaves and any other dirt that's in the bottom of the filter housing while you are at it. Put the new filter in, and put the bolts back in. There is another air filter: it's the cabin air filter inside the glove box. Are you trying to replace that? How many miles are on the 02? I ask because you may be able to get away with cleaning the PCV valve out without replacing it.
  21. Well, I hate to say it, but since there are other things that might end up being the problem, it's going to have to be looked at by a mechanic who can fully diagnose it.
  22. So you had some corosion issues going on inside there, eh? When you got inside, was the plastic liner still there? Or was it missing?
  23. Bad vehicle speed sensor, perhaps.
  24. Yeah, but you know what? If he has a sensor going bad, the light's just going to come back on anyway.
