  1. Hi Toyota Forum folks, I'm new to this community, but not to Toyotas. I've driven a 1986 MR2 Supercharge, an '85 AE86 hatch, a '96 4Runner Limited, and now drive a 2001 Celica GT-S. I love my Toyotas, and as you can tell, with the exception of the 4Runner, they tend to be little things. My girlfriend and I are looking to buy a truck to carry her two horses around, and I of course would like another Toyota, as they've treated me so well. I'd really prefer the Tacoma to the Tundra, as it's smaller and probably quite a bit easier to drive. The towing capacity from the dealer, and on Edmunds, is 6500lbs. Our horses weigh ~2600lbs together, and the trailer itself can't be more than a ton, so we're looking at 4600lbs on the high side, I think. That should be plenty, but I'd really like some anecdotal evidence of the Tacomas pulling their weight, no pun intended. Any Tacoma owners (preferably reasonably new, but if the old ones work, this should too, right?) do some towing? How does the truck stack up? Does it struggle up hills or is the engine enough? Any stories of how you use yours would be great. Thanks so much in advance for your help, folks, and if I do get it, maybe you'll see me on here more often!
