  1. Haven't been around for a whileThe paint looks as though it was painted yesterday perfect A moron while I was driving opened his door and took the side of my car and had no insurance . It is functional and I decide not to repair it . Result people avoid me like the plague. And that my friends is what I want as I remain safe with my kids inside. No one parks near me or passes me or cuts me up . I have had a peaceful year driving and now I have approximately 200000 miles on the clock reliable as ever. As to what paint it is more how to paint First remove all the chrome except centerpiece using Brillo pads. This requires a lot of elbow grease but the result is worth it. Of course the crille is out of the car. Then you clean the grille so it has no dust or grease residue.Using a motor car quality black satin primer give it a very very thin coat. Allow to dry a day wash it with sponge and dry it .when dry and no trace of water give it another coat and repeat the process. once dry second time round using motor car grade black Satin paint spray from about 6 to 10 inches away a very thin coat and make sure you don't have runs. Let it dry 24 hours . rub it down and wash and dry and when completely dry give it another coat. The result is worth the while. This is what I did and accept no responsibility if you try my method and don't get the results. The illigitamate child of the female dog did not have insurance. I mean the mexican kid who took the side of my car.
  2. Sorry Folks I haven't been round for a while I am building a car from scratch and that has kept me busy Eventually decided that the Solara will stay until its last breath. Efforts are being put in this new creation Unfortunately nothing Japanese in this creation Solara is going great and now it has 170K miles on it
  3. 2/24/2011 10:49:00 AM Another massive recall for Toyota. Two million vehicles are being recalled for potential sticking gas pedals. Toyota will recall approximately 270,000 vehicles in Canada to correct sticking accelerator pedals on specific Toyota Division models. Toyota says it has investigated isolated reports of sticking accelerator pedal mechanisms in certain vehicles without the presence of floor mats. The company says on their website 'there is a possibility that certain accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position'. Toyota's accelerator pedal recall is confined to the following vehicles: * 2009-2010 RAV4, * 2009-2010 Corolla, * 2009-2010 Matrix, * 2005-2010 Avalon, * Certain 2007-2010 Camry, * 2010 Highlander, * 2007-2010 Tundra, * 2008-2010 Sequoia No Lexus Division or Scion vehicles are affected by these actions. Also not affected are Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Sienna, Venza, Solara, Yaris, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, and select Camry models, including all Camry hybrids. www.toyota.ca for more specific information.
  4. Toyota Camry - What the Auto Press Says The 2011 Toyota Camry ranks 17 out of 21 Affordable Midsize Cars. This ranking is based on the analysis of 79 published reviews and test drives of the Toyota Camry, and the analysis of reliability and safety data. The best-selling car in America for eight straight years, the Toyota Camry saw its reputation damaged by Toyota’s highly-publicized recalls for unintended acceleration. Buyers still interested in a Camry will find a softly-tuned, comfortable commuter car, but there have been reports of quality problems with the 2011 Toyota Camry. Americans have known exactly what to expect from the Toyota Camry for years. It’s been a reliable, comfortable commuter for millions, which helped it conquer the market as the best-selling car in the U.S. for nearly a decade. In 2010, it won the U.S. News Best Midsize Car for the Money Award for the second year in a row. But a series of highly-publicized recalls for unintended acceleration and reviews citing build-quality problems, have raised questions about the Camry’s reliability. The 2011 Toyota Camry is one of Toyota’s first post-recall cars -- and the automotive press is watching carefully to see whether it is part of a renaissance for the brand, or another contributor to its fall from grace. The 2011 Toyota Camry has a long list of virtues, but they’re virtues that don’t necessarily impress auto reviewers. The Camry offers a spacious, comfortable interior and is tuned for a smooth ride -- but that means it’s sluggish in the corners, and its base four-cylinder engine is not particularly quick. Motor Trend calls it, “The Wal-Mart of family cars,” which is both a compliment and an insult -- it’s popular and predictable, but not particularly exciting. In previous years, reviewers have praised its bulletproof reputation for reliability. But in the wake of Toyota’s string of recalls, many don’t know what to think of its quality. The next sentence may be of interest to Toyota Guru For Toyota loyalists, the 2011 Toyota Camry may represent a great buying opportunity, especially since Toyota has been discounting the Camry with heavy incentives in recent months. Be sure to check for current Toyota Deals for details. Others, however, may find that the Camry is not the automatic answer it used to be for buyers looking for a reliable car they didn’t have to think much about.
  5. Mine seem to be OK I don't think you wasted your money as if you still have the purchase ticket you can get your money back provided the installer did a correct installation. Changing shock absorbers must be done by a competent shop, specially the front as there are many Teflon type parts in the strut section, which allow the movement of the steering wheel and if installed incorrectly they will generate noise which may or may not have something to do with the shock absorbers. But if shocks are noisy you can get your money back.
  6. Merry Holidays and a Happy New Year
  7. I have not seen a section for that on this site which has surprised me to no end as most owners clubs do have a cars for sale section which is also a good source of income for improving the site and services.

    OROCHI

The “Orochi Nude Top Roadstar” is a new design proposal that expands the frame of the conventional “Orochi”. There are many reasons for loving and for selecting a car. These include specifications, driving performance, environmental performance, new technologies and how well the vehicle matches your lifestyle. However, one other key reason is “design”. Isn`t it fair to say that “design” is one of the simplest and easiest to understand reasons? Some designs just seem cool and leave a powerful impression. These designs move your spirit and sensibilities in a way that can only be described as “love at first sight”. Our design approach is to vividly and directly appeal to one`s sight, spirit and sensitivity. The “Orochi Nude Top Roadster” exemplifies how this new approach is taking form. We applied a more open design and gull-wing doors to the previous road-version prototype “Orochi”. The name “nude top”is well suited for this beautiful and stylish design. We even went so far as to not attach any side mirrors in order to create a daring design that would bring forth this new “Orochi”. We hope that you will take aclose look at this unique design. Basic SpecificationsOverall length: 4,587mmOverall width: 2, 060mmWheel base: 2,570mmDrive system: MR We have redone the chassis and body panels for the commercial “Orochi” currently being developed and various other preparations are being made for the start of testing. We have had many inquiries from customers eagerly awaiting the new “Orochi”. All of our employees have been working hard together with an unwavering purpose in order to realize commercialization of this car. We would like to ask these loyal customers to wait just a little bit longer. In the past, we’ve seen the Orochi referred to as a supercar, but while it looks as (if not more) exotic as just about any limited-production vehicle on the planet, it lacks the performance credentials (on paper, at least) to put it in supercar territory. In fact, the powertrain will be familiar to many. The 3.3L V6 mounted aft of the passenger compartment is Toyota’s well-known 3MZ-FE, which sees duty in the Camry, Solara, Sienna, Highlander, and Lexus RX (hybrid and standard versions). It makes around 230 horsepower and is connected to a Toyota 5-speed automatic. The decision was made to place efficiency and ease of use ahead of high performance. Speaking of performance, no numbers were released along with the technical specifications, but don’t expect anything earth-shattering. The car’s average power, combined with a weight of approximately 3,400 pounds (around 100 less than a Solara), is not a recipe for big-time track numbers. In Japan, though, exclusivity seems to trump all, and that’s a commodity the Orichi has in abundance. So what if it has just 230 horsepower? In Japan, arriving anywhere in one of these will bestow instant superstar status upon the driver. 400 Orochis will be built over the next four years, each costing ¥10,500,000 (around $89,000 USD). Orders can be placed beginning today with the first deliveries taking place in January 2007.Technical Specifications:Total length / Width / Total height = 4560mm / 2035mm / 1180mmWheelbase: 2600mmGround Clearance: 130mmVehicle weight: 1580kgPassengers: 2Engine: 3.3L V6DOHC (Toyota 3MZ-FE)Max output: 233ps (172kW) at 5600rpmMax torque: 33.4kg-m (328Nm) at 4400rpmFuel capacity: 60 liters (unleaded premium)Transmission: 5-speed AT (Toyota)Drive system: Mid-engine/rear driveSuspension: front and rear double wishboneTires: Front: 245/45ZR18, Rear: 285/40ZR18Body: hand made FRP make bodyDoor: side impact door with built-in steel beamsChassis: handmade steel space frameEquipment:Low-beam side HID, motorized door mirror, airbags, automatic A/C, the Panasonic HDD Navigation, power windows, immobilizer, and full leather interior all standard
  9. Earlier I said that yesterday the main dealer in Glendale (California) tried to offer me $1800 for my lovely Solara. I have already an offer from an enthusiast for $8734.00 which I am not even prepared to entertain. Admittedly it is not 8 times but it isn't far off. If you buy a brand new car from a showroom today, and within 6 months go back to the same dealer I wish to know if I am wrong in saying you would be offered at least 6k less than what you paid for. Additionally lets suppose you sold that car to an end user after 6 months at the value that the dealer was going to give you and in turn that end user decided to sell the car after six months, I promise you that last end user will not loose as much as the one who bought it direct as brand new from the showroom. On that basis if you bought a six months old car privately and if you know what you are doing you will do better. If you want to buy from a showroom go there about 20th of December and try to buy an Ex demo. As in January new models come in the older ones go for a song, because very shortly they would be 1 year old cars. In the last two years as we have been going through the biggest frauds USA has seen in its history no cars were selling did you see the deals that was going on ? Some of those are still there on a 20 K car you are not going to save much however when you are about 34K to 40K mark you can easily slaughter the car salesman. I hope you have noticed my sentiments about car salesmen is very similar to your sentiments of the local civic owners. Sorry to correct I think the story goes this old fuddy duddy had a Mercedes 180D of 1957 which was driven over one million miles Mercedes Benz in Stuttgart took it for their Museum and in exchange they gave her a brand New Benz. See actual picture of the car below And as for the Volvos well one those Amazons (as they were known) is pictured below. I dare any dealer to offer a book value for those . This is a 1966 two door version and looks most beautiful shark that I ever saw By the way your inputs are very informative and it is nice to have a car talk with you. :D My apologies for partial quotes
  10. I hear you I never believe anything any car sales man says private or professional. Their objective is to get rid of a car. If I tell you the horrors that I have escaped you wont believe. Those tricks will remain for another post. The trick is buy a good car and maintain it well. Once the payments are finished continue with the payments in the "car account" as explained before then you will be on the roll. I know every nook and cranny of my car and work that has been done is always documented. The mechanics I use are tested guys over the last 10 years. They know they will loose a good customer if they misbehave. They can't afford loosing me. My dad kept his Volvo Amazon from 1964 to 1992 when he died and then my mother sold it for the price that we bought it all those years back. That was fairly pristine too see photo. Any way I wish you a good luck and remember a car is never an asset. It is a liability. The only way this liability will behave is if it is kept well. The ride will be only as good as the money spent on it. As we have lady readers I don't wish to elaborate on those last two sentence. :D This car in those days went round the clock 3 times
  11. mine is a Solara SLE V6 1999 162000 miles and almost like it came out of showroom. I have looked after it and it keeps looking after me and no payments I spend the 1/4 of the monthly payments in its upkeep
  12. I know what I have to suggest is not easy but so far this is what has got me the best deal. I always save my money in a car account. My discipline is this. Whatever car you have assuming you have no payments , you deposit in the car saving account the equivalent of monthly repayments for a car say 350 dollars. Without fail make the payment . At the end of say 6 years you have $25200 in the bank. That is enough money to buy a car. NEVER A BRAND NEW ONE. Let some other idiot pay the immediate depreciation of the car out of the showroom (sometimes as high as $6000). You can always pick up a nice six month old or 1 year old car at that price. Now the exciting bit Go to the showroom where ever and see the car you like. Let the salesman put his guts out giving you all nice deals. Once he has finished and exhausted himself just say the following "How much would you do the car if I gave you all $10 bills? And see his knees trembling. Then to floor him say I want the guarantee and I don't want to pay the tax :D I have had cars out of the showroom at the right time of the year about $9000 less the price tag. The best part is you say I have no trade in. That normally is the last blow they all love that deal. Once you have your new car sell your old one privately where you will get up to 8 times more than what they give you as a trade in. Once you sell the car put the money in the Car account for the next car and start all over. It is hard to get on that cycle but once you do you laugh all the way to the bank Happy motoring A guy wanted to give me 1800 dollars for my Solara as a trade in for a G37 top of the range this morning I told him to go where the sun doesn't shine.
  13. I do tend to agree Even on Cadillac you either have a rag top or you don't. At first I thought it was a convertible but the roof line was too smooth for a convertible. Any way I am always looking to see what others have done to their cars. :)
  14. It was leather with a grain similar to the eighties Cadillac with the chrome and a custom shop badge on a hard top car.I don't know what to think on this one.
  15. It used to be fashionable in the days of Starsky and Hutch. But is it still fashionable and modern for today? Let me know
  16. We’re not sure how many times—if ever—we’ve used the words “Camry” and “fun” in the same sentence. While Toyota proudly rumbled into SEMA with the car you see here, the shocking and awesome RK Collection Toyota Camry NASCAR Edition, we know that number is bound to stay low. Like most SEMA creations, it is a no-expense-spared one-off, this one dreamt up by a NASCAR team co-owner (with help from TRD). There’s pretty much no chance of this NASCamry ever being reproduced even once, let alone in mass quantities. But why dwell on that? At least there’s one, and this Camry looks like stupid fun. (See? We did it.) With a roll cage, a Tremec six-speed manual, and a 358-cubic-inch V-8 feeding 680 hp at 8500 rpm to the rear wheels, this is one Camry that no Impala SS or Fusion should make eye contact with on the street. And they’ll hear and see it coming, thanks to its three-inch exhaust plumbing as well as its kitted-out white-over-red body, which Rob Kauffman and friends redrew into a fetching two-door configuration. The aggressive road stance is achieved by dropping the coupe onto its 20- by 8-inch front and 20- by 10-inch rear wheels with modified Camry Macpherson struts in front and modified Venza-sourced multilink components out back. Now, if this were an actual NASCAR racer, the interior would consist of little more than sponsor stickers and air, with a seat and steering wheel thrown in for the driver’s sake. But the RK Collection Camry is not an actual racecar; it’s a show car, which will even be paraded in front NASCAR fans on November 12 in Phoenix once its stint on the SEMA stand is through. Hence, it gets a leather-and-Alcantara interior, complete with air conditioning, power seats, a Pioneer audio system with six amps and a 12-inch subwoofer “to help offset the throaty performance under the hood.” Like anyone would want to do that. So, again, this custom probably doesn’t portend the return of the Camry Solara. And even if Toyota were to revive its mid-size two-door, you can bet a 12-pack of Bud that it won’t come with a V-8.
  17. The most amazing story about dedication
  18. Bromsgrove about 18 miles from Browns Lane (Jaguar manufacturing site) in Coventry in a little village called Blackwell Nice place and blackwell indeed. :D
  19. No we can't. It would not be fair So we come up with a caption for the left hand mirror!! Easy to make with a Casio $30 label maker Subtle , but nevertheless customized
  20. We seem to have similar tastes :)It is real hard work this brake light thing because the light is in a sealed unit and getting to the LED is a heck of a surgery involving model makers drills and grinders as well as scalpels and to put it back together well that was another story. In reality it would have been smarter to lay down a proper circuit board with smaller LED so that the definition would have been better. Any way today I was bored at work and using my label maker with clear labels I came up with another thing, though I have seen similar on Mustangs but not in this manner. I think I will make a post about that
  21. In England I used to drive a Jaguar. The factory was about 18 miles down the road and parts were plenty The slogan was Grace, Space, and Pace I have been thinking hard for a slogan for Toyota I had come up with a few let me know which is best I don't give an Iota Cause mine is a Toyota bit cheesy Pure luxury without the price tag of a badge No I am not a car salesman Best cars for Race and Rice.........I wonder if that will catch on :D
  22. Well this item of customization has its inspiration from the MR2 of the eighties where the name TOYOTA appeared on a piece of perspex attached to the roof of the car and the reflection of the mark could have been seen on the rear window.Like a ghost! The first picture reflects the MR2 Model of the 1982. So I have been toying with an idea here for a while The result is in picture 2 What do you think? Cost less than $20 It took blood sweat and tears and a bag of four letter words :D While on the subject it is curious to know where would the sunroof of the MR2 disappear ? I wonder
