Exionite

So just let my mom use my car and now I'm hearing a popping noise. When I turn the steering wheel to either side, there's a popping side around the "center" when the wheels are straight. Could this be the intermediate steering shaft? I read this was a problem but not sure how to tell. Any help is appreciated and needed thank you
