RJG119
Hello Everyone, I'm new to this site and also new driving a Highlander. I'm curious if it's me or normal for the new 2014's to suddenly feel like a wind catching the car creating a side load pulling the car to either the left or right side. This occurs at speeds above 60 mph on interstate travel, becoming more noticeable over 70 mph. Not caught in 18 wheeler drafts nor traveling on blustery days its persistent to the point of fatiguing. Previously, I owned a 2009 Murano and it was solid and surefooted on the same interstates, traveling the same speeds. My 4x2 Highlander is equipped with Michelin tires (which I consider soft tires) and a Toyota dealer installed the roof rack that sits higher then the previous generation highlanders. Haven't seen any other 2014 Highlanders with roof racks and was thinking of removing the roof rack before the next road trip to rule out poor engineering. Steering wheel feels solid with no wandering so I believe the wheel alignment is fine. I haven't carried anything on the roof rack nor any heavy loads that could effect the weight distribution of the car. Thanks in advance for any ideas or comments!
