gfasig Posted April 3, 2008 Share Posted April 3, 2008 I recently bought a used 2005 Highlander Ltd. The engine frequently races before engaging when starting from a stop. In doing so it prevents the ride from being smooth and as the driver it makes the acceleration unpredictable. I took it to a dealer othe rthen the one I purchased it from shortely after purchase and they said, that's just the way these model ride. My concern is that this is not only uncomfortable but will also cause a lot of wear on the transmission and ultimately lead to failure. When the vehilce was at thd dealer they did something and it was slightly better for a while, that is the hesitation was less pronounced.
