  1. I plan to do some traveling for a few months in the near future.  I have my eye on a 3600 # ultra-light travel trailer.  I am concerned about the lubrication ability of 0W20 synthetic motor oil the dealer uses in my 2014 4Runner Trail and pulling a load at or near the rated towing capacity for extended periods.

Also, I am wondering if this vehicle is equipped from the factory with capacity to keep the transmission cool.  Has anyone ever done much towing with a similar vehicle.  This is a 4.0L V6 engine (the only one available in a 2014 4Runner Trail).

I noted the owners manual indicates you cannot use a weight distribution hitch with this vehicle.  Does anyone know of an after-market frame mounted hitch and receiver assembly that is beefier than the OEM receiver and cross-bar?

Any relative input is greatly appreciated.

  2. I believe I had the same issue  of an intermittent locking of the driver door (only the driver door has issues, all others lock fine).  To fix I opened the driver side door, pushed the door light plunger switch (located at the back edge of the door opening below where the door latches).  The switch should have a black rubber boot over it with a single screw at the bottom and is oval shaped, oriented vertically.  I pushed the switch in all the way and quickly released it several times and this seems to have at least temporarily resolved the issue.  Let me know if this works for you.  If so keep in mind the switch could be going bad and it should be replaced if this happens again.  Cheers!
